Gospel Meditation

But wonder of wonders,
So great to behold,
My God chose to save me
With method so bold.
What I could not render,
God fully has done,
And doing, He rendered it
All through His Son.
He sent Christ to die
On the cross for my sin
To suffer my anguish
My pardon to win.
Amazing it is, when I
Stop to regard
That God would consent
To an anguish so hard,
Surrend'ring His Son
Unto mayhem and death,
To torturous writhing
'til His final breath.
'Why does God forsake Me?'
Alone Jesus cried;
Yet God left Him hanging
Until He had died.

Milton Vincent

"As to this salvation, the prophets who prophesied of the grace that would come to you made careful searches and inquiries, seeking to know what person or time the Spirit of Christ within them was indicating as He predicted the suffereings of Christ and the glories to follow. It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves, but you, in these things which now have been announced to you through those who preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven- things into which angels long to look." 1 Peter 1:10-12

"He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him. In love He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself." Ephesians 1:4-5

"And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men, by which we must be saved." Acts 4:12

"Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth and the life; no one comes to the Father but through me.'" John 14:6

"For Christ also died for our sins once for all, the just for the unjust, so that He might bring us to God." 1 Peter 3:118

"He did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all." Romans 8:32

"He was despised and forsaken of men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief...our griefs He Himself bore, and our sorrows He carried...He was pierced through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the chastening for our well-being fell upon Him...the Lord has caused the iniquity of us all to fall on Him. He was oppressed and He was afflicted...By oppression and judgment He was taken away...He was cut off out of the land of the living...the Lord was pleased to crush Him, putting Him to grief." Isaiah 53: 3-10

"This Man, delivered over by the predetermined plan and foreknowledge of God, you nailed to a cross by the hands of godless men and put Him to death." Acts 2:23
